Before you buy a bass guitar, make sure that you know what you're in for as a bassist. A lot of people buy a bass guitar thinking it's simpler to play than the standard guitar. Not only are they wrong, but most bassists learned how to play the standard guitar first before the bass. Bass playing isn't simply plucking on the root chord of the tune, there are tons of other techniques that professionals use - and some of them can be harder to learn than the standard guitar.
